One of the questions I get asked alot by email or at workshops is what recording gear I use at home. THe stuff I use for demoing and songwriting, overdubs, recording most soundfiles for the “Talking Hands” soundfiles on the monthly CD accompanying the magazine etc.
So I figured Id make a quick walkthrough… =)
Sorry about the low audio- and video quality, I think it should be ok though to see what I am using. Below the video, there is a quick list, too…
Zoom G9.2tt digital modeling preamp/effect unit
Marshall JMP1
Dunlop EVH Phase 90
Keeley-modded Boss DS-1 (Ultra mod, All Seeing Eye-Mod)

Thanks to Dan for putting the vid up at his youtube-site
I thought it was time again to post some listening recommendations… albums I find myself listening to a lot right now… so here we go…
John Mayer – Room For Squares (Great songwriting, very tasteful playing, listening to it a lot) King’s X – XV (I have always loved the band, and their new album rocks!) Joe Satriani – Professor Satchafunkilus and The Musterion Of Rock Tom Principato – House On Fire (an awesome blues-player, very tasteful, great guitar sounds and tone!) Eric Johnson – Bloom Gov’t Mule – High N Mighty Les Paul & Friends – American Made, World Played (Les Paul and a lot of his friends, from Richie Sambora to Sting, from Buddy Guy and Keith Richards to Jeff Beck and Billy Gibbons)
Gosh, its been a while since I added a new blog-entry, I am so sorry. Maybe I should rename the “Lick Of The Week” to “Lick Of The Month”? Naaah, just kidding.
Anyway, here is the 4th in my series of alternate picking licks. I hope the ones I posted so far proved to be useful for you to work on your picking chops. THis is the “other way around” version of the previous one.
Make sure you start out very slowly so all notes sound good and clean, and then slowly increase the tempo with a metronome.
Two more licks like that to come! (soon, I hope) =)
A bit late as usual (not the magazine, my blog entry about it!): the new issue of GUITAR magazine (05/08) is out now, and it features the newest episode of “Talking Hands”, focussing on arpeggios (part 1, by the way).
Also, I wrote a review about a Framus Panthera Custom 7 for this issue.
So check it out!
